My handspun yarns are made with projects in mind! Most skeins are over 200g (8oz), and some are over 300g (12oz). These skeins are 2 to 3 times the amount of yarn in a normal skein, and I spin them this way as a continuous strand so you can complete your project with no breaks, knots, or odd color transitions. The 8oz skeins are in 2.5yd hanks and the 12oz skeins are in 3yd hanks. If you do not have a swift that accommodates these sizes and would like for me to re-skein your purchase or wind it into a ball, please let me know.
Fair and reasonable pricing for handspun is insanely hard to figure out. I do not make a living selling my work, but I do not want to undervalue my product and make it harder for people who do make a living off their art to do so. For full transparency, below is the formula I am using to calculate the price of each skein:
(yardage x $0.06 x (# of plies +1)) + cost of fiber = finished yarn
For me, as a not-very-fast spinner, this is far below a fair hourly wage, but seems in step with what most production spinners are charging. I understand the cost of my handspun can be high, so if you would like to set up a payment plan or work out some type of trade, please send me a message.
